About Professional Handyman
My name is Chad Walker, and I’m the owner-operator of Professional Handyman.
I grew up right here in North Carolina — in Cornelius — and went to North Mecklenburg High School before earning my B.A. in Sociology from UNC Charlotte. I’ve been working with my hands most of my life, and in 2006 I became a licensed general contractor.

For years, I focused on larger projects: additions, remodels, and bigger construction jobs that involved laborers, subcontractors, and inspectors. Once in a while, as a favor, I’d take on small handyman jobs for past clients. And the more I did that work, the more I realized how much I loved it.
Gone were the headaches of juggling big crews, chasing inspectors, and managing impossible schedules. Instead, I found the simple, direct satisfaction of showing up, fixing what needed fixing, and helping homeowners and businesses keep life running smoothly.
Now, I’ve left the world of large projects behind. I work exclusively
as a handyman, and I couldn’t be happier with the choice.
A zen filled life.
Local and Independent — Not a Franchise
Professional Handyman isn’t a franchise. It’s just me — local, independent, and accountable only to my customers.
Because I’m not tied to a corporate structure, I don’t have to follow fee schedules, pay franchise dues, or mark up jobs just to cover overhead. I can keep my costs lean and pass those savings on to you. That also means more flexibility in scheduling, pricing, and project scope.
When you hire me, you’re working with a neighbor, not a call center.
Highly Reviewed
I’m proud of the reputation I’ve built. With 200+ reviews averaging 4.9 out of 5 stars, my past customers consistently say they appreciate my professionalism, reliability, and workmanship.
I treat every job as an opportunity to earn another 5-star review. When I show up at your home or business, you can expect the same standard of service that’s earned me those reviews — and I guarantee you’ll feel the difference.
One-Man Operation
When you hire Professional Handyman, you deal with one person: me.
-
I answer the phone.
-
I schedule the job.
-
I quote the work.
-
I perform the repairs or installations.
There are no middlemen, no schedulers who don’t talk to the tradesman, no estimators who don’t show up to do the work. I wear all those hats — and that means no details get lost in translation. The buck stops with me.
My 5-Point Pledge
My business was built around the frustrations I had when I used to hire subcontractors: no-shows, vague communication, surprise pricing, and poor workmanship. I promised myself Professional Handyman would do better.
That’s why I created my 5-Point Pledge:
-
Keep our scheduled appointment
-
Communicate clearly
-
Show up on time
-
Offer competitive pricing
-
Deliver the highest quality work
It’s simple, but it’s the foundation of every job I do.
Well-Equipped
I don’t just show up with a toolbox. I operate out of a 16' enclosed trailer that I custom-built specifically for handyman work.
It’s well-organized and stocked with high-quality tools and materials so I can tackle a wide variety of jobs efficiently. It even has power, running water, and a kitchenette — a little home away from home that lets me stay prepared for any situation.
Being well-equipped means I waste less time running to the hardware store and more time getting your project done right.
1-Year Workmanship Warranty
I stand behind every job I do. All my work comes with a 1-year workmanship warranty.
If something I did isn’t holding up the way it should, I’ll come back and make it right. That’s what being a professional means — not just finishing a job, but backing it up.
Free “How-To” Advice
Not every project requires a handyman. Sometimes, a little guidance is all you need to tackle a repair yourself. I respect the do-it-yourself spirit, and I’m always happy to share tips or point you in the right direction.
Whether you’re a past customer or a future one, my how-to advice is always free. No catches. Just honest help for people who like to roll up their sleeves.

Services I Offer
I cover a wide range of handyman services, for both homes and businesses:
-
Residential handyman tasks: plumbing fixture swaps, lighting installation, bathroom vanity installation, drywall patches, trim repairs, flooring repairs, inspection punch list items.
-
Commercial handyman work: restaurants, offices, and retail spaces — I handle lighting, plumbing, and maintenance items quickly and discreetly.
-
24/7 emergency handyman services: urgent leaks, failed fixtures, electrical safety issues, or other problems that can’t wait.
-The only things I don’t do are painting, roofing, or oversized projects that require multiple workers (like a full-house flooring replacement). For almost everything else, I’m ready to help.
